Thinking about happiness

I've been thinking about happiness latelty, mainly my own happiness but every once in a while you have to stop thinking about the world and just focus on the things you might be able to change. Anyway I was thinking about my happiness and what I would need to be happy (is "would" the right tense?) in the wake of reading about how 10% of the US population is taking antidepressents. At first I was shocked and disgusted, I thought how could those people just say screw it and plug their ears mediphorically to what is going on around them, but after talking it over with some people I have again come to the realization that they have; that if you can't do anything about your shitty situation in terms of escaping it you might as well mask it behind drugs. Marc Maron once said that maybe depression is the right reaction to how messed up the world is, and I really understand (and agree) with that point of view.
This has become pertinent to me lately not because I am taking antidepressants, but because I have the feeling that I am closer than ever to the happiness I have coveted for years. I am finally taking a class that causes no stress and makes me happy, mainly because I fucking amazing at it, and another piece to my happiness puzzle, is within my grasp... kind of. What I mean is that it is within jumping distance, but when ever you make a leap of faith there is always a chance you will plummet, and it is that plummeting that I am afraid of. I worry that if I try to jump for it that I will fall, but what is the point of coveting something if when it gets as close as it will ever probably get without your intervention you don't go for it. This is why for the first time ever, I'm going to be proactive about something, I'm not going to just sit back and moping about how my life is fucked, I'm going to go for it and try to obtain one of the most crucial pieces of my happiness puzzle, and if I do fall, at least I will know I tried, instead of waiting around until it was too late like I usually do.

Things to Ask Siri

Hey guys,
I don't actually have an iPhone 4S although I will admit it's probably the most practical smartphone on the market and I would totally upgrade to one if I had the chance; that being said can we just all admit that Siri is stupid. I mean there really is nothing that you can do with Siri that you couldn't do just as easily with an app, most of the time a built built in app. Although the voice recognition software could be really useful if it is opened up to all developers (It might already be open, I don't know).
Anyway with all of that being put aside here are a few questions I would ask Siri if I had the 4S, Inspired by watching some one ask Siri for a near by prostitute and watching her (I guess) locate an escort within 35 minutes of the person's current location:

Reading the New DC 52

Hello everyone,
I've recently been catching up on some of the new DC 52 and although I will be making video reviews of the ones I have been reading I would like to say a few things about them as a whole. It's funny to me that although they refreshed all of their super hero books, very few of them are really worth reading. The majority of the new 52, from what I have read online, are pretty mediocre and only will be liked by those hardcore fans of whatever series. This begs the question why refresh the whole line up if there isn't going to be any extra effort put into making each one into a great book?

Reading Wilfred Owen

Hey Guys,
Today I started reading a book of Poetry by Wilfred Owen, the Famous World War I British Poet. I'm only a few pages into it but already the writing has far surpassed any poetry I have ever read on any subject. He writes about war in the most realistic sense, because he saw first hand both the horrors of war and the disconnect between the reporting and what actually happens on the battlefield. People often confuse his stance, in reality he wasn't a pacifist but more of a realist who supported transparency, something that I think is very easily applicable to today's world where only a fraction of the reporting done about war is truly factual. Most "news organizations: are more concerned with furthering their own political rhetoric than actual reporting and they aren't afraid to change the facts to do so.
Historically I have been put off by poetry but I have realized recently that it was only because I was reading stupid, pointless poetry. Owen has a point, a message that he is putting forward, which is very different than the other poetry I have read in the past. I can also attribute my feelings about poetry to the many English teachers I have had over the years who forced the pointless poetry in my face, obstructing my ability to see through to the real poetry that is very much available.

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog, some of you might know me from youtube where I make a variety of videos, mostly about technology and other nerdy things, but here I will do things a bit differently. I may very well talk about tech and video games here but there is a higher chance that I will use this blog to talk about things that I think either don't really make sense to turn into a video or things that I am just too lazy to turn into a video. What kinds of things might those be you ask, well I'm not really sure, they could be anything from a haiku I wrote to an article about why youtube has been slowly turning into facebook these past few years. I also love photography so I might share a few of my pictures here, Only time will tell. Anyway I just thought I would give a quick run down of what I'm trying to do with this blog and if it goes somewhere, great, and if not, well I'm pretty damn used to disappointment by now.
